Week 11 summary: Final Stretch

Writer: BreezeBreeze

GymACT 2025 Season: week 11

Weekend of March 22-23

Week 11 was calm for most teams in the GymACT league.  New York Alliance and Northern Illinois University had a virtual meet adding one last set of scores to their national rankings.  Otherwise, teams are crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s in preparation to the post season championships. We are just a couple weeks away from the coveted East vs. West ALL STAR championships, then Conference and Nationals soon thereafter.  SWEET!

From the Coaches

MINNESOTA: setting up equipment on the week off, you know… the usual.

The final meet of the regular season was on March 8 at the NIU Invitational. With Spring break occurring at the University of Minnesota the week following our final regular season meet, I let the team go home for Spring Break. This was the first time in my 45 year coaching career that my team has been given Spring Break off. A well deserved break for our undefeated season.

Neutral Deduction Episode, going over some major issues with Judging at Nebraska vs Michigan.

Push for implementing a way for judge's to be checked for higher D-Scores rather than just when they are low on D-Score.

MEET THE COACHES:

ELI RICHARDSON: Washington Men’s Gymnastics

This week, we’re proud to spotlight Eli Richardson, Head Coach of Washington Men’s Gymnastics. Eli competed for and served as both captain and president of Texas A&M’s self-funded mens and women’s gymnastics programs—an athlete-led team with no formal coach. During that time, he became a 4-time NAIGC All-Around National Champion, showcasing elite talent, grit, and leadership.

With 18 years of coaching experience under his belt, Eli has continued to elevate the sport. He has served as both the Washington State Chair and Region 2 Chair, and was awarded the prestigious Roberto Pumpido Award from USA Gymnastics for coaching the top 18-year-old athlete at Development Nationals.

Eli holds a degree in Industrial Engineering, but his true passion lies in mentoring athletes and building opportunities through collegiate club gymnastics. His favorite food is pizza, and his favorite human is his daughter, Lola—whose middle name, Belle, is a tribute to his favorite parallel bars skill.
