Bay Area Bandits: 4

From the Coaches

BAY AREA BANDITS: a tie-breaking dismount.

The Bandits' competed at the Colorado State Meet against the Rocky Mountain Mavericks, New York Alliance and Southern California United. The founding members of the United style team. The competition was anticipated to be a close one, and it absolutely delivered on that front. With the final scoresheets coming in at a tie of 289.45 between the Mavericks and Bandits. Due to a last minute floor inquiry, the Bandits eked out their first regular season win of the year by 0.2!

ONE stuck landing to rule them all! Ryan Edmondson on the LAST event clinched the gold team trophy.
ONE stuck landing to rule them all! Ryan Edmondson on the LAST event clinched the gold team trophy.

From Head Coach Will Pearce, "I'm incredibly impressed with this team's adaptability. With a diminished lineup, and last minute injury substitutions, the Bandits' were still able to come within striking distance of 290! This team has just consistently gone above and beyond what I believed we were capable of. To be able to knock on the door of 290 with only 9 of our 15 guys, while also counting 5 falls, makes me incredibly excited for what's to come this postseason with a fully invigorated lineup. Do not count us out of that upper echelon of teams, that has traditionally been composed of the dropped NCAA, we intend to shake those standings up a bit!"

Congrats to our 4 Title Winners:

  • William Pearce: 13.2 PH (4.2 D, 9.0 E)

  • Evan Hymanson: 13.9 PB (5.1 D, 8.8 E)

  • Alexei Tryshev: 12.35 HB (3.7, 8.65 E)

  • William Pearce: 75.45 AA

ROCKY MOUNTAIN MAVERICKS: The cash for sticks campaign

The Mavericks worked hard to show head coach they can stick 10 dismounts in our final home meet of the season to earn a $100 bet that was featured on our well-known “Tabor Time” segment in instagram the week before! In addition to this challenge, the local fans of the mavericks helped us raise $1,400 throughout the weekend, a home meet in the weekend and venue shared with the CO Boys State Championship! Xtreme Altitude Gymnastics in Lafayette, CO was our gracious host for both events, and main home for the Mavericks training!

TEMPLE: championships prep time

The Temple team has a few bye weeks as we prepare for championship season. The men are showcasing some new skills in the gym as a final push for potential routine upgrades. Perhaps the biggest development this past week is that we have been given permission to use the women's varsity gym at Temple a couple days/ week. We are grateful to the women's gymnastics team at school and our administration for letting us use the trampoline and pits. This will be a game-changer for our program. Improved air awareness, technique, and soft landings, here we come! Outside of this, we are pumping more circles and routines on pommel horse to correct the course we've been on this season.

We have solidified four commits for our 2025-2026 squad.  We are very excited about these new additions.  Follow Temple Men's Gymnastics on social media to see the announcements.  Evan Zakrewski has qualified to be an East All-Star for the first time.  He is excited to contribute on high bar this year.

MINNESOTA: Undefeated, a well-deserved break.

The final meet of the regular season was on March 8 at the NIU Invitational. With Spring break occurring at the University of Minnesota the week following our final regular season meet, I let the team go home for Spring Break. This was the first time in my 45 year coaching career that my team has been given Spring Break off. A well deserved break for our undefeated season.

Gymnast of the Week 10

Nominees

BANDITS: William Pearce

William Pearce once again proved that age is just a number and that longevity is key in GymACT. He secured the All-Around title with a 75.45, achieving an E-score of 9.0+ on three out of six events. On Thursday evening, Will rolled his ankle on his final tumbling pass in practice and was uncertain whether he would compete on Floor or Vault by Saturday. Despite this setback, he walked away with 13.0+ scores on both events and claimed the event title on Pommels with a 13.2. His leadership has especially helped the team grow on Pommels, now hitting 5/5 routines on the event for the second competition in a row, after going 1/10 at the beginning of season.

MAVERICKS: Caleb Damarest

We are thrilled to nominate Caleb Demarest as the Rocky Mountain Maverick's Gymnast of the Week. Caleb, a graduating senior in engineering at CU Denver, has been a cornerstone of our team since its inception, originally as the Pride before our rebranding.Caleb's dedication and skill were instrumental in leading our team to a second-place finish and achieving our highest score of the season. His standout performance included his layout kasamatsu on vault (something he has worked on performing for years), a tucked half in half out dismount on rings. Notably, Caleb's precision and consistency in his horse routine set the standard for our team's success in our lead off spot. Beyond his exceptional athletic achievements, Caleb exemplifies leadership both on and off the mat. His unwavering commitment and work ethic have set him apart since his high school days, consistently outpacing expectations and proving that hard work surpasses talent when talent does not work hard. In his final home meet as a Maverick, it was inspiring to witness Caleb's exceptional performance and contribution to our team's success. Caleb Demarest truly embodies the spirit of excellence and dedication that defines our team. Please help us recognize Caleb as Gymnast of the Week! He is well-deserving as a rock for our team in this and all meets he has competed for us!

PH - 10.4 HIT routine in the lead off spot

SR - 12.15 (3rd)
