And we’re off! The GymACT 2025 competition season has officially begun.

GymACT 2025 Season: Week 1

Weekend of January 11-12

If Week 1 competition is any indicator of what’s to come, hold on to your chalk buckets cuz it’s gonna be a spectacular year!

The season premiere weekend brought great rivalries to the competition floor.  In the “GymACT founding members” corner, Washington Husky’s invited Arizona State in the heart of their den (the beautiful Alaska Airlines Arena).  Meanwhile, newer programs Minnesota faced off Kansas City United in neutral territory, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Sensory overload on the computer monitor. Every team webcasting their own team. Oh, YEAH!

The meets were webcast live on each team social media.  And in true GymACT dramatic fashion both competitions were happening at the same time.   Gymnastics nerds (like myself) REALLY enjoyed the split-screen action.  It was exciting and entertaining.  Meet hosts provided live scores in various platforms.  The teams put out AWESOME gymnastics. And I really enjoyed the “side show” of each team as the media guys gave us plenty of cheeky candid footage during the breaks and warm-up periods.

Results of both meets can be found in the national ranking website Road to Nationals (https://roadtonationals.com/results/standingsGA/) , but here are the team scores:

Stick masters:

Everyone LOVES stuck landings.

But, the new FIG rules place more importance on dismounts than ever before, benefiting gymnasts on difficulty AND there is stick bonus as the cherry on top!

So we should pay special attention to those landings. Week 1 results in competition are as such:

Without further ado, the Week 1 Stick Masters are:

Minnesota: 10 sticks. 5 on HB, yowzah!

KC United: 7

Washington: 7

Arizona: 6

Joshua Laudie (KCU): 4 for 4

Great job, guys. Keep on sticking them landings!

Gymnast of the Week:

Week one has 3 nominees from Washington, Minnesota and KC United. Who’s YOUR pick. Send us a comment and let us know.

Eli Dheer, Washington
Eli Dheer, Washington

Washington:

This week’s Gymnast of the Week should go to none other than Eli Dheer, who made quite the splash—or should we say “stick”—in his first-ever GymACT competition as a freshman on the Washington Men’s Gymnastics team. Eli went 3-for-3, sticking every landing on Floor Exercise (FX), Vault (VT), and High Bar (HB) like he’s been doing it for years. Seriously, we’re beginning to wonder if he secretly moonlights as a Velcro salesman.

Eli’s highlight of the meet? Crushing it on Floor Exercise and taking first place. His routine was a masterclass in both execution and swagger, earning him top honors and a whole lot of respect from teammates, coaches, and anyone lucky enough to witness it.

In summary: Eli’s first meet was a triple-stick masterpiece, he won floor, and he’s officially set the bar high for all future freshmen. No pressure, though. Congrats, Eli—keep sticking those landings, and maybe next time, teach us how you make it look so easy!”

David Grossman, Minnesota
David Grossman, Minnesota

Minnesota:

David Grossman continues his meteoric ascent in the World of GymACT Collegiate Programs. After an impressive freshman campaign in 2024 where he helped lead Minnesota to its first ever National Team Title, he got off to rip-roaring start taking the All Around title at the Emerge Academy Invitational with a score of 74.60, ranking him #1 in the Nation in the All Around. He also took home three individual event titles on Still Rings (12.80), Parallel Bars (13,7), and High Bar (13.2) as he lead his team to a team score of 298.00. Not only did he win the three events at the meet, but his efforts landed him at the top of the National Rankings in all three events. If ever there was an award winning performance, David certainly displayed one this week.

Joshua Laudie, KC United
Joshua Laudie, KC United

Kansas City united:

After a stellar finish to the 2024 season as an All American on FX, Joshua Laudie has come out of the gate firing on all cylinders. At the end of week 1, he sits alone in the top spot on FX within GymACT. His VT performance was outstanding, with an E score of 9.3 and stuck every landing on all 4 of the events he competed. Furthermore, KCU could not have a better team captain. His passion, dedication, and leadership are the very reason our recruiting is going so well, and the reason we will more than double in size next season.
